Ariana Grande was in Singapore for the regional debut of Wicked: For Good

Devoted fans of the actress are urging that a person who jumped a fence and touched the performer during the recent Wicked: For Good launch be arrested or expelled from Singapore.

A circulating video shows the person identified as Johnson Wen pushing past photographers and charging at Grande while the cast proceeded down a yellow carpet surrounded by fans.

Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the surprised actress away from Mr Wen, who was seen being escorted out of the gathering by event staff.

Mr Wen stated on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "free after being detained", though official papers revealed that he was set to appear on the following morning. It is uncertain if he was formally accused.

Pattern of Disruptions

This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a performance. His Instagram profile includes recordings of him disrupting other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney performance in recently and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last December.

"Measures must be taken taken against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," commented an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen posted of his behavior.

"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" one Instagram user questioned.

Fans Show Disapproval Over the Star's Well-being

Many fans accused Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had spoken of dealing with PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the conclusion of her spring 2017 performance in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and wounding hundreds.

"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" said another response on Instagram.

A number of supporters also faulted security officers at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while some called for online networks to remove Mr Wen's videos.

Aftermath and Event Details

In clips spreading on the internet, Grande appeared shocked when she was approached by the man. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted reassuring her while Mr Wen was escorted away by staff.

Grande has remained silent on the situation, and the remaining proceedings proceeded as normal.

Hundreds of supporters had assembled in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific launch in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it began.

The movie, to be launched on 21 November, is the follow-up of a dual adaptation of the acclaimed Broadway and West End show Wicked, which focuses on the unlikely bond between two contrasting witches.

The musical itself is a adaptation of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Grande, who acts as the character Glinda Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink sequin dress at the event while Erivo, who plays the villainous character, wore a black tube gown decorated with roses.

They were joined by co-star Jeff Goldblum.

The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful film of last year in the UK, and scored a dozen award recognitions, earning a pair for outstanding attire and production design.
