Parker & Wardley Prepared for ‘All or Nothing’ Clash with Shot at Oleksandr Usyk on the Line
Boxing is in a notable downturn this year, with a scarcity of big events and far less compelling bouts than normal. Parker is the WBO interim champion and they have formally instructed Usyk to fight him, but the Ukrainian was sidelined. Joseph insists on fighting.
“Fabio is similarly well-placed and he only had to wait for his chance. He said ‘No.’ He wanted to fight – and against Parker because it provides him a shot to accelerate his path.”

Parker, aging 34 soon, said: “It's win or go home. I am not focused on a loss. I honor my adversary and what he has done and the way he's trained for this fight. But I am on a superior tier and I am intending to prove it on fight night.”

Wardley, approaching 31, and he said: “This is a monumental event for the two of us. It is clearly the most significant bout of my career and the greatest challenge I've faced. But every time I step up I rise to the occasion. This Saturday will be no exception. The gap between where Joe is and my perceived standing has been a common theme throughout my career.
“He has vast experience for a extended duration, with a lot of fights on his resume. By no means is he an aged fighter but he has been in the game for a long time and had some heavy fights. I’ve been in a few wars myself and I realize they cause wear and tear. He has been in a significantly more of those fights than I have.”

But the lingering doubt persists that Parker is likely to be too seasoned, and too technically proficient, for his opponent. He should win a hard-fought contest with the conviction that he is next in line for a title shot against Usyk – the undisputed best in the division by a significant margin.
