Recent Oil Plant Attack Reveals 'Zero Protected Locations in the Russian Distant Backlines'
Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles have targeted Russia's Bashneft processing plant in the city of Ufa, situated some 1,400 kilometres from Ukraine, causing blasts and a fire, per a source in Ukraine's SBU.
This represents the third Ukrainian security service deep strike in the region in the last month. These operations show that there are no secure zones in the distant backlines of the Russian Federation.
Zelenskyy Appeals to Trump to Facilitate Truce in Ukraine
President Zelenskyy urged President Trump to broker peace in Ukraine during a call on the weekend.
"Provided that a war can be halted in a particular zone, then certainly additional conflicts can be ended as well, covering the Russian war," he remarked, praising the US President's "exceptional" Middle East ceasefire plan and requesting the US president to influence the Moscow into negotiations.
Russian Strikes Take Lives in the Country
Moscow's assaults on Ukraine killed at least five people on the weekend and cut power to sections of Ukraine's south Odesa region, according to local sources.
A pair of individuals lost their lives within a religious building in Kostyantynivka when it was targeted, as reported by municipal sources.
In Russia's border region of Belgorod, a vehicle operator was killed by a drone assault, according to local officials.
Energy Recovery Efforts in the Capital
Efforts carried on on the weekend to repair energy infrastructure in Kyiv, after strikes by Moscow.
Electricity had been returned to over 800,000 inhabitants by the weekend and the largest utility provider stated the main work to recover electricity was finished though certain disruptions remained.
Air Defence Actions and UAV Jamming
The Ukrainian defense forces neutralized 54 out of 78 UAVs from Russia launched towards the country overnight, the aerial defense command reported on the weekend.
The Russian military authorities said it intercepted 42 enemy Ukrainian drones over the country's airspace.
Cuban Government Rejects Allegations of Providing Soldiers to the War
The Cuban government on Saturday denied US assertions it has sent soldiers to engage in the Ukraine war, while affirming officials in Havana "are without accurate data about individuals" engaged "on their own" or "in the military forces of both sides".
The government department in Havana stated 26 Cubans had been convicted to jail sentences ranging from five to 14 years for mercenary activity since September 2023 when news circulated of individuals being sent to the front in the conflict.

The program, a state initiative that promotes opposing fighters to surrender, stated in spring: "We have confirmed the personal data of 1,028 Cuban nationals who signed contracts with the Russian armed forces in recently."
