The network's Premier New Show of 2025 Secures a Significant Extension for Seasons 2 and 3.

Last October, Adult Swim saw the return of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, later that same month, the network unveiled a fresh animated series with a distinctly unique tone. Haha, You Clowns emerged as heartwarming and calm, in the spirit of a animated take of a serene talk show. In an era often marked by bleakness, this show's sincerity found an audience and turned it into a surprise hit.

A Significant Investment

On December 18th, the network confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for two additional seasons. This gives showrunner Joe Cappa a massive runway to develop the world of the Campbell family. The series focuses on three respectful teenage brothers whose central trait is their strong bond for their single father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four main characters.

"I’m so grateful to the viewers of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and helped it grow," said Cappa. "I am overjoyed that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for seasons to come."

A President's Endorsement

Accompanying the news commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "profoundly sincere and uniquely eerie." He thanked the fans who found the show and advocated for its peculiarly charming appeal.

"All of you showed up for this new show, rooted for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was praised as "a gentle counterpart" to more cynical adult animated fare. There’s something deeply soothing about following this charming family go about their everyday routines.

At the time, creator Joe Cappa shared his desire to help comedy break out of its current sarcastic tone. He traced this trend to the rise of certain blockbuster franchises.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” noted Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we need to laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

Future Seasons

With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa may well catalyze that change he described. At a minimum, the renewal ensures audiences additional episodes to experience the warm glow of the endearing Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. All episodes is available for streaming on HBO Max.
