Torrential Rains Exacerbate Circumstances for Evacuated Gazans, Officials Warn
Heavy precipitation over the last seven days have worsened the precarious living conditions of the hundreds of thousands of evacuated civilians in the Gaza Strip, as reported by humanitarian organizations.
"Terrible" Conditions Creates Serious Threats
A spokesman described the previous night's conditions as "terrible", with precipitation so intense that up to 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the streets.
"The recent weather was truly difficult for the residents. The storms were so intense... And the gales were so powerful," said the official.
Authorities voice grave anxiety that children living in makeshift shelters in damp attire will succumb to hypothermia and additional ailments.
Fatalities and Widespread Destruction
The health ministry have confirmed that one baby has succumbed from exposure and no fewer than 11 other people have lost their lives in structural failures triggered by the harsh conditions.
Further statements suggest a higher death toll. Authorities said that numerous structures had fully given way and scores had collapsed partially.

Aid Operations Seen as Not Enough
Organizations have escalated deliveries of tents, warm covers and clothing after the ceasefire began, but they emphasize there is remains not enough aid reaching those in need.
"Agencies are striving constantly to bring in that relief and to allocate it, but the size of the requirements is so immense that we still have a great number of families and minors who are really struggling every night," cautioned one spokesperson.
Ongoing Challenges and Truce Plans
The next stage of the truce involves arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the removal of troops, and other terms.
Humanitarian groups have stressed the imperative for "expanded and ongoing aid to meet immediate and long-term needs."
The conflict was initiated by an offensive in late 2023. Later actions have resulted in a high number of lives lost in the territory, according to medical data.
